Owner, Educator, and Coach | Graphic Designer and Productivity & Workflow Specialist at

3 WORDS: Organized, Smiley, Big-hearted

ABOUT THE BIZ: I help small creative business owners simplify, organize, and beautify their businesses so they can serve more clients, feel more peace, and find the freedom to live life again. I do this through education, coaching, consultation, and design services.

CHELSEA'S WHY: I want every business to shine and every business owner to feel like a success. A major hurdle for most businesses is having an organized system and workflows that allows the behind-the-scenes work to happen seamlessly and the client-facing work to really stand out. I hope to change that for my clients - whether we are working one-on-one or in a group training.

What advice do you have for someone who was where you were 6 months ago?
Go for it! Don't let fear hold you back from moving forward and making an impact in a way that only you can! And get the help you need to make that happen.

What were you struggling with in life/business when you decided to work with Monica?
When I got Monica's email to join her on a free webinar I had just decided to pivot my business. Previously I was designing wedding invitations but it was time to move on to something new. I had no clue how to make the transition from wedding stationery designer to coach and workflow specialist. And I was terrified of starting over. On the personal side of life, I was working long hours and struggled to find the time to take care of me - workouts, self-care, hobbies, and time with friends and family. I needed someone that not only could guide me through the transition in my business, but could also help me work through my mental blocks and structure my time so I was truly living my dream life.

What made you decide to work with Monica? If you were on the fence, what made you realize this was the right thing to do?
Honestly I was terrified to hire a coach. I'd worked with coaches in group settings before but I'd only really had one success. But when I got on a discovery call with Monica, I knew by the end of the call that this was the person I was to be working with. I'm not 100% sure what it was, but I felt like we clicked, she understood where I was coming from and where I wanted to go, and she understood the lifestyle component that I really felt had been missing in every other program I had done.

Describe the state your business was in before working with Monica.
My stationery biz was doing well. And I could have continued doing it, but it felt like a weight. I dreaded going to work and found myself finding projects to work on that were really fancy procrastinations, which led to long working hours up against deadlines. Even though I was completely booked, I still wasn't meeting my financial goals and felt a little bit like I was drowning. The work wasn't a great fit anymore and I needed a new way to serve the world.

At what moment did you start to see a shift, once you started working with Monica?
Almost immediately I noticed things shifting. She helped me overcome some of my own blocks about my lifestyle and workday schedule that had immediate impacts. She encouraged me to start a morning routine that allowed me to not only fix some of my household stressors but also ground, center, and reflect before I hopped into work-mode. The change was amazing! I felt in control of my schedule for the first time since I had started my biz. I felt like it was okay to have a non-standard workday schedule. I felt like I could do it all without getting stressed and without working 16-hour days.

What has been the biggest milestone you have hit in your business?
Honestly, launching my second business. I had a lot of fear and a lot of baggage to overcome to even feel okay launching and being public. (And I'm still working on some of it.) And being able to run my business on my own terms - which includes caring for my sick family members that live in different states.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your business?
The connections I've built. I love supporting and loving on other small businesses and being able to connect with them on a personal level makes my day.

What are the biggest lessons you've learned so far in business? How have they impacted you?
Don't listen to everyone that claims to be an expert. In reality, you are the expert of your life and your biz. No one else knows what is right for you. Only you can know that.  -- This lesson was so hard to learn. I am a chronic consumer of education - have been since pre-school. At one point I was literally paralyzed because I had so many "experts" telling me to do things so many different ways.

And none of them felt right for me. I finally ended up unsubscribing from all the email lists and taking a social media break to clear my head and allow my own path to form.

Describe how mindest work has changed your life.
It has impacted everything! E-ver-y-thing! I am a calmer, happier person - not just in biz, but in everything in life. I can always tell when I need to do some more mindset work because I start getting crabby and snippy with everyone, especially my hubby, and I little things spark a meltdown. Mindset work has given me options for dealing with those fears and have allowed me to overcome them and shine above them.

Fully booked out stationery services, launch a new business, launched a new coaching program, launched a workshop series, connected with tons of amazing small biz owners from across the country and globe, went to my first wedding industry conference, and finished 80% of the educational things I signed up for, spent time caring for my sick grandma.

I'm most proud of booking out (even though I was out of alignment) and launching my biz. Both stretched me in ways I hadn't anticipated and I grew a lot through both experiences. I'm also super proud of being able to be a caregiver to my grandma when she needed it. Family is a huge reason I structure my biz the way I do. And being able to be there for them means the world to me.

Private coaching with Monica is the #1 best investment I've ever made in myself or my biz!
Other amazing investments for me include:
• a CRM (I currently use Dubsado and love it!),
• a project management software (I use Asana b/c checklists are my fave),
• any webinar + contract templates by Annette Stepanian,
• Ashlyn Carter's Copywriting for Creatives course,
• The Wedding Business Academy by Ginny Krauss and Kristin Kaplan - a mastermind for wedding pros,
• Books:  The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, My Year with Eleanor by Noelle Hancock, The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein, She Means Business by Carrie Green
• Rising Tide Society (and Tuesdays Together meetings)
• Accounting software (I use Xero)
• Unplugged Meditation app

Only everyone! Everyone is rocking something in life and I find that truly inspiring!

But if I had to look to just a handful of people I'd say Leslie Knope (I know, she's fictional, but she's still inspiring and kinda my spirit animal), my sister-in-law who is a travel nurse and lives life how she wants to, my hubby because he has built an incredible tech business and genuinely cares about every employee + is an amazing manager, Jenna Kutcher, Jasmine Star, Ashley Beaudin (Imperfect Boss movement), Natalie Franke, Carrie Green, Rosemary Watson, Madison Vining & Kari Lewis, Sherry & John from Young House Love (I've been following them since Clara was born), Kate from The Small Things Blog (again, following since pre-babies), The Bowers from Bower Power Blog (again, since pre-babies).

Talking to other small biz owners and helping them brainstorm ideas for making their biz run more efficiently. It's like a puzzle to me and I love seeing the realization that - "It really is that simple."

In the short term, I'm launching a couple new services this next quarter that will help small biz owners get organized, learn new tools and actually use them, and have access to designer-quality templates for all their graphic design needs (stay tuned for the announcements). I've got a workshop coming up next week on Managing Clients with Ease using Dubsado. I'm teaching you how I'm able to work fewer hours, have coffee dates every week, and even get paid faster - all with one amazing tool.
