How to start your day with clarity for more productive days featured on wellness blog 45 Fairmount by Monica Woodhams How often do you find yourself getting to 10 am and you realize that the entire morning has been a blur?

It's 10 am and you're not even sure what you really need to be doing.

Whether you're in a 9-5 or building your business, this can be either paralyzing or overwhelming.

I know when I get to 10 am and if I haven't gotten focused on my priorities for the day, there's a high probability that I'm not going to be productive the rest of the day.

If you've been having so many days in a row where you're just flat out feeling stuck and unproductive, clarity could be one of the reasons why.

Clarity gives us purpose and direction. Without it, we're floating through the day going through the motions. We might be doing things, but are they productive and meaningful things or are they just things that are draining us and might not even be necessary.

If you joined me for my Morning Ritual Masterclass, you know that one of the most important components of a morning ritual is the third step, Plan.

This is such a key element that sets the tone for your day.

Right from the very beginning of your morning, you are sending the message to yourself that you are going to live the day with purpose and take action towards your big picture goals.

So, let's talk about how to start your day with clarity.

The first thing you want to do is write it all down if you're feeling super overwhelmed.

Journaling is a good starting place if you have a lot of thoughts running through your head and don't really know where to start. Just write out everything that you're thinking, including what you want to accomplish.

If you're feeling pretty good and just need some direction, start with writing down your big picture goal. Your big picture goal is your big goal you want to accomplish this year. It could be anything from changing jobs to getting a promotion, to hitting a new monetary milestone.

If you don't have one big goal you're working towards, your homework for after you read this post is to bust out the journal and write a letter to yourself talking about your desires and what you would like to accomplish this year.

Now that you've written down your big goal of the year. Write down one thing that you can do TODAY to work towards that goal. It can be the smallest step or something major. Doesn't matter as long as you have the one thing you're going to do.

At this point, you're already on your way to a very productive and stress-free day because when it comes to that big goal, that desire that means the MOST to you deep down, you're confident that you're going to be taking one step towards it and it's SO do-able.

Now that you have a new perspective on what you really want to accomplish, it's time to break down the other things that you need to do today.

Write down the top 3 most important tasks that need to get done and set the goal to start and finish them first, before anything else.

This allows the rest of your day to flow with so much less stress because you're not being bogged down by your to-do list and taking up brain space by constantly remind yourself not to forget to do it.

The final step is to break it down even more. I use my daily priorities notepad for this because it breaks it down by need to do, love to do, and money making. I'll take a sheet from this pad every day and clip it onto my planner page that I'm working on.

This all may seem like an extra step in your day, but it doesn't have to take long. In the beginning, I recommend setting a timer for 5-10 minutes and sitting down and doing it with no distractions.

You'll quickly start to realize that these 5-10 minutes are making the rest of your day so much easier and productive.

So to recap:

Step 1: Journal and write out everything that's on your mind

Step 2: Write down your one big goal for the year at the top of your planner or notebook

Step 3: Write down one thing you will to today to take action towards that goal (can be big or small)

Step 4: Write down the top 3 priority tasks for today and tackle them in the morning

Step 5: Break it down into categories. I love using my Daily Priorities Notepad from J.Lynn Designery.
