How to be consistent in your business and in life

How to be consistent in your business and life featured on 45 Fairmount by Kansas City blogger Monica Woodhams Have you heard that the most successful people start their day by making their bed in the morning?

I've been hearing this a lot lately and it makes sense. Because it is typically the first task of the day that is easy to complete. And right then and there at 7 am, you've already been successful at one of your goals for the day.

  • For the record, I'm not telling you to make your bed in this post, I don't make my bed (sorry mom), so I provide you with alternatives to get you consistent, don't you worry!

Another example, when you do laundry and actually put the laundry away right away, this sends the message to yourself and the universe that you COMPLETE your tasks, you don't leave them unfinished.

Stay with me here...

The small daily things that you do each day send messages to your brain of what you can and can't do.

If you do laundry but never actually fold it and put it away and it just sits in your laundry room, you're subconsciously telling yourself that things are too hard or you're too busy to finish projects.

If you put the laundry away when it's clean then you're telling yourself that when you commit to doing something you finish it. This attitude carries over into your business.

When these no-brainer things you do are consistently completed, you're going to see yourself start gaining more consistency in your business too.

Here's how:

1. You will get in the habit of setting MANAGEABLE goals for yourself. When you start small, it's not overwhelming and quick to do.

2. You'll have more stamina when it comes to getting your least favorite tasks done first. Hate making your bed? You do it first thing in the morning before doing anything else to get it done. Do you hate posting on social media or blogging? Now you know to get it done first thing in the morning because you know just how good it feels to take care of the thing you aren't looking forward to first.

3. You'll start sending the right message to the universe. Our thoughts are very powerful and when we start our day thinking that we're not going to be able to get everything done, then there it goes - we don't get everything done. When you start seeing with your own eyes that you're getting your manageable tasks done first thing in the day, you start to send the message that YOU GET THINGS DONE! This affects you being consistent in your marketing and even sales!

Next thing you know, you've gone from posting here and there and selling here and there to actually being consistent so that now you can actually plan ahead in your biz.

I chose one area of my life where I vowed to be more consistent every morning and that is in my morning routine. Last week on the blog, I shared how to create a morning routine - even if you're not a morning person.

A morning routine incorporates the things I described above: it is manageable (and fun if you do it right), it helps you prioritize your day so you get stuff done, and you are working on your mindset work to make things happen.

ACTION: So, if you're ready to get more consistent in your biz, you gotta start with YOU. Where in your life can you start getting more consistent? Is it putting away the dishes or laundry? Is it making your bed? Is it a fab new morning routine you're obsessed with?

And if you want to go the morning routine route - I only have TWO SPOTS left to help you create a morning routine FOR FREE! Seriously - it's a 1 hour session and we're going in deep! Just simply email me at to tell me you want it!

P.S. In the FREE morning routine session, we're going to dive in deep for an hour because I want to make sure that you have a morning routine that is so fun and exciting for you that you'll WANT to jump out of bed to do it AND that you'll actually STICK to!
